This month we welcomed new Senior Account Manager, Amy Coxhead, to the Clock family. On her arrival, she sat down with our content team to discuss her background and what attracted her to Clock.
So Amy, why Clock?
My background is primarily print and photographic. I have worked with many different clients and accounts throughout my career but felt that it was time for a new challenge in the digital field. The way the industry is nowadays means online and offline marketing need equal weighting, they’re both so important. So when I was approached to come and join Clock, I jumped at the opportunity. I couldn’t wait to gain some exposure to digital projects and work alongside the project manager and social team here.
What do you like most about agency life?
I’ve worked in agencies from day one, so for 8 years I have worked with loads of different people. I really love the fresh thinking and being able to bounce ideas around with people who have different specialities. In an agency, no two days are the same, and having a variety of projects to work on give us a real mixture. It’s never boring! The variety of projects mean I’m always expanding my knowledge and being introduced to new problems that need to be solved.
What got you into Account Management?
Well, I originally planned on going to university to study Law, but on the day we were choosing our course I panicked and I enrolled on a Design Management course instead. It meant that I had the freedom to explore my creative side and learn about the management of projects. Although I can have creative ideas, I struggle with the execution so managing the accounts was the perfect role for me. I also really enjoy working with people and building relationships with clients; being client facing is very rewarding and seeing their brief come to life is really worthwhile.
What do you find the most fulfilling part of your role?
Working alongside the client(s) is my favourite part; we get to understand their pain points and refine their business needs to work with them to find the right outcome. We resolve problems, and we’re making a difference to the clients’ world.
What is the biggest challenge you face in your role?
Sometimes, strict budgets can be a challenge, so we have to make sure we’re delivering fantastic creative work without looking like it’s being compromised by budget. It can also be a challenge to earn clients’ trust in the agency so we must be reassuring and as clear as possible across the board and work to the best outcome. We must also be at the forefront of a rapidly changing industry, staying up to date with trends and making sure our clients are ahead of the game.
